WadzPay understands that the world would not be where it is today without strong female representation and that greater diversity in leadership brings us closer to a more equal future.

Here are some perspectives from our employees about the theme for International Women’s Day 2023: “DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality.

Amy Han

Associate Vice President, Complaince & Risk (Singapore)

From my point of view, technology has had a profound impact on today’s society, transforming the way we live, work, and interact with each other. In many ways, it helps empower women and achieve gender equality, particularly via the following :

  • It has revolutionized the way we communicate with each other. With the rapid universalization of smart phones, social media, and messaging apps, women can express themselves, access and share information, raise awareness about issues affecting women, and connect with others all over the world in real-time. Social media, especially, has been playing an important role in facilitating social movements and helping women voice their concerns and any unfair or harmful treatments they receive in an effective manner.
  • Despite progress in increasing access to education, many girls around the world still face significant barriers to accessing education. This includes poverty, cultural barriers, and violence. Technology has made education more accessible to women all over the world. Online learning platforms, virtual classrooms, and educational apps have made it possible for women to learn from anywhere at any time.
  • Remote Work. Women continue to bear the burden of caregiving responsibilities, and this can make it difficult for them to balance their work and family responsibilities. Advances in technology have enabled many women to work remotely, which has given them more flexibility to balance work and family responsibilities. This has made it easier for women to participate in the workforce and pursue career opportunities that might not have been possible otherwise.
  • Artificial Intelligence ("AI") Despite the progress that has been made in promoting gender equality, biased decisions in terms of pay, title, and authority still exist in today’s workforce. Women on average still earn less than men for the same work, and there are still more men than women sitting on corporate boards all over the world. AI can help eliminate gender bias in the decision-making process. AI algorithms can be trained on unbiased data sets to make decisions based on objective criteria rather than subjective judgments. This can help reduce the impact of unconscious bias in areas such as hiring, promotion, and performance evaluation.

Overall, to gain the aforementioned benefits and to ensure that women have equal access to digital resources and opportunities, everyone still needs to work hard together to increase gender equality social awareness, improve women’s access to technology, and ensure that policymakers are continuously working on gender diversity and inclusion initiatives and enforcements.

WadzPay offers employees flexible work arrangements through the use of technology. We communicate with each other conveniently via our HR system and Microsoft Teams. This definitely promotes work-life balance, especially for women like me who have caregiving responsibilities. I feel very grateful for the support from senior management and the flexibility offered.

Vice President, Human Resources (India)

Digital technology has become critical to our lives. Gender diversity in particular has positive effects on radical innovation, a criterion that is crucial for tech companies.

In the journey of making WadzPay a great place to work, we have a diverse workforce with enriched experience exploring distinct opportunities by playing an imperative role in the organization as we practice workplace equality.

Digital fluency is helping to level up both men and women at work as they both embrace and use digital technologies to become more knowledgeable, connected, and effective. Technology places both men and women on an equal pedestal without creating any discrimination in opportunity or pay scale as we practice standardized interviews and skills-based assessments that help to focus on gender equality.

Additionally, WadzPay encourages an equal collaborative work culture among all its employees to bring synergy to the workplace and enhance positive competition to build their capabilities.

Marketing Associate (Indonesia)

Technology has provided women with access to information and resources that were previously difficult to obtain. Women can now easily access educational resources, health information, and other services that can help us improve our lives.

There are also many new job opportunities for women, allowing us to become financially independent. With the rise of e-commerce, women can now start their own businesses and sell products online.

Even social media and messaging apps have enabled women to connect with others, share experiences, and build networks. This has helped us to form support groups, gain access to resources, and engage in collective action.

Overall, these technological innovations have contributed to gender equality by providing women with access to resources and opportunities that were previously unavailable to them. By leveraging technology, we can continue to work towards closing the gender gap and empowering women worldwide.

At WadzPay, women are given valuable opportunities to balance work and life through the flexibility of remote working. Our voices are not only heard but also valued in a company-wide effort towards success. Furthermore, our peers provide us with expert insights that aid knowledge development. I am fortunate to have found my place within this organization and am honored by the opportunity.

Pooja Aggarwal,

Senior Manager, HR Operations (India)

Technology has opened a world of possibilities for women around the globe. The digital age has the potential to remove all types of inequalities, leading to the empowerment of women.

Women’s participation in the digital arena is not just a matter of gender equality; it is a necessity for sustainable development. WadzPay as an organization has a standard where all employees—regardless of gender or race—receive the same treatment in terms of pay scale, opportunities, and holding female employees’ opinions with the same regard as their male counterparts.

We, at WadzPay, realize that to acquire the benefits of gender diversity, female employees need to be empowered to reach their full potential. Women’s Empowerment is all about inclusivity, equality, and diversity in the workplace, where women are represented at every level and are involved in the creation of and decision-making around digital technology.

Advancements in technology have helped enable flexible working for the entire workforce. Using video conferencing and instant messaging tools in the Workplace platform facilitates people’s staying connected and making a full contribution wherever they work or however they structure their working day, while at the same time permitting them to contribute at home without compromising on their work commitments. It has given them the freedom to be masters of their time, thus allowing a large section of women to enter or make a comeback into the organized workplace.

At WadzPay, every employee, male or female, can aspire to be the best at what they do and can hope to be encouraged and supported without any prejudice or bias.
